Hugs Not Bugs Coming to Lice Clinics of America – Northwest

February 3, 2019/in Head Lice /by lcaadmin

Who doesn’t need a hug?

Everyone does, and that’s why Lice Clinics of America – Northwest is launching a “Hugs Not Bugs” campaign this February.

“We will be writing Valentine’s cards and sending them to seniors, families, and children in Northwest,” said George Macoubray, owner of Lice Clinics of America – Northwest. “It’s part of the International Random Acts of Kindness Week February 18-22. Customers can come in and write a Valentine’s card to folks that we’ll be sending out.

“We’re excited about this program because hugs and hand-written notes are becoming rare in our digitally connected world,” said Macoubray.

Random Acts of Kindness Week is sponsored by the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation, whose mission is “to change schools, the workplace, families, and society through kindness. We work toward that goal by creating free content that promotes kindness toward others and teaches important kindness skills to kids.”

“This movement is important to us because we’ve seen how head lice can cause frustration, embarrassment, and even strain relationships among parents,” Macoubray said. “There is a long-held yet long-dismissed notion that head lice are associated with poor hygiene, and people feel judged.”

Indeed, a OnePoll survey of 2,000 U.S. parents—conducted in conjunction with Lice Clinics of America—found that 52 percent of parents feel judged by other moms and dads when their child comes home with head lice.

The medical world has debunked the mythical connection between head lice and hygiene. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) states, “Personal hygiene or cleanliness in the home or school has nothing to do with getting head lice.” Still, the perception persists.

Lice Clinics of America – Northwest offers a revolutionary solution for head lice in the form of the AirAllé® medical device. AirAllé kills lice using carefully controlled warm air that dehydrates lice and eggs (nits). It is a Class I medical device that has been cleared by the FDA and has been clinically proven to kill live lice and more than 99 percent of lice eggs.

Most treatments take about an hour and are guaranteed to be successful.

Worldwide, the AirAllé device successfully treated nearly half a million cases of head lice with a 99.2 percent success rate.

And by the way, you don’t have to limit your random acts of kindness to one week. The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation offers a year-long calendar to help you spread the love 365 days a year.

Lice Clinics of America – Northwest has five locations – Bend, Portland, Clackamas, Salem, OR and Vancouver, WA.
