No Lice No-vember

November 15, 2018/in Head Lice /by lcaportland

Let’s Make it a ‘No Lice No-vember’

With the holiday season approaching, one gift families don’t want to receive is head lice. The holidays are one of the peak seasons for head lice as children celebrate with lots of hugging and close contact.

Lice Clinics of America® – Oregon and Southwest Washington are here to help families prevent head lice this holiday season with a ‘No Lice No-vember’ preventive package called ‘Lice Free 1-2-3.’ During November, the clinic is offering:

  1. Professional head lice screening
  2. Professional lice treatment and the screening fee waived if lice are found, and treatment is performed
  3. Preventive products

“We always see a surge in cases of head lice during the holiday season,” said George Macoubray, owner of Lice Clinics of America – Portland, Vancouver, Clackamas, Salem, and Bend. “Head lice are the last thing families want to deal with at home or when traveling and celebrating, and we’re trying to help everyone be prepared.”

“The good news is that if your child does have head lice, we have the safest, fastest, most effective treatment available,” George said. “We’ll have you lice-free in about an hour, end of story.”

Lice Clinics of America – Portland, Vancouver, Clackamas, Salem, and Bend is the exclusive provider of head lice treatment using the FDA-cleared AirAllé® medical device. AirAllé is a Class I medical device clinically demonstrated to kill live lice and more than 99 percent of eggs (nits) using microprocessor-controlled heated air. The air is dispensed with just the right velocity and temperature and is applied by certified technicians to quickly dehydrate lice and eggs. The entire process takes about an hour and is guaranteed to be effective.

Head lice have become more difficult to treat in recent years because most head lice—so-called ‘super lice’—have become immune to the pesticides that traditional treatment products use. The most recent study published in the Journal of Medical Entomology in 2016 found that 98 percent of head lice in most U.S. states are now genetically resistant to pyrethroids, the pesticides used in traditional lice products. Pyrethroids have also been linked to developmental and behavioral problems in children.

“The AirAllé device is also effective against super lice because it doesn’t use toxic pesticides,” George said. “Worldwide, the device has treated more than 850,000 cases of head lice with a success rate better than 99 percent.”

“If you don’t have lice, we strongly recommend using one or more preventive products to make sure your family stays lice-free through the holidays,” George said. “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure when it comes to head lice.”

Our clinic offers preventive spray, conditioner, and shampoo products that serve as lice repellent. These products include a non-toxic solution that smells perfectly pleasant to humans but is offensive to head lice.

“We’ve got everything you need for a No Lice No-vember and a lice-free holiday season,”

George said.
